Leona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British musician, singer also known as actress, and activist. Born and raised within the London Borough Of Islington she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition by winning the third season of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in an PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. The winning single, which was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" was a top-charting first place for the duration of several weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50k digital downloads in thirty minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a five-album contract in February of 2007. Lewis's successes continued when she released her debut album, Spirit (2007).
