Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British musician, singer also known as actress, and activist. Born and raised within the London Borough Of Islington she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition by winning the third season of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in an PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. The winning single, which was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" was a top-charting first place for the duration of several weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50k digital downloads in thirty minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a five-album contract in February of 2007. Lewis's successes continued when she released her debut album, Spirit (2007). The album was certified platinum in the UK it became the fourth best-selling album of the 2000s. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the most successful 21st century debut album by a female. The album's first single "Bleeding Love" was in the top spot of the UK charts for seven weeks before becoming one of the best-selling singles in 2007. It was also the most-sold single in 2008, as well. Lewis was awarded the Billboard Award for Best New Artist. In 2009 she released her second studio album, Echo and also composed the title track, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint project with Swedish DJ Avicii. In 2011 she also released Hurt which was the extended version of her debut EP. Glassheart (2012) marked Lewis the release of her three studio albums. The album was Lewis the first time she tried electronic dubstep and music. While on her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her first Christmas album. The album Christmas, With Love was released in late 2013. Its lead single One More Sleep reached the top spot within the UK. Lewis who is an British female solo artist, became the first to hit the Top Five with eight singles. This is more than Olivia Newton John's record which had seven.
